Holland has an extensive public transportation system. There are trains, metro’s, trams, busses, taxis and airports. Metro’s and trams are only found in the larger cities. As was mentioned before, all students who receive study financing from DUO will receive an OV-studenten ov-chipcard. In the period when these cards are not valid you can travel with 40% discount.

In order to travel in metros, trams and busses in the weekend or on a weekday, depending on the card you choose, you have to buy a public transport chip card. You can purchase these chip cards at metro stations and larger train station.

Remember that with these cards you will have to check in and check out every time you are making use of the public transportation.

Do not get on any public transportation without a valid ticket or card. Traveling illegally (Zwart rijden) is punished severely. Information on how to get from point A to B with public transportation can be found on:
